Overview
Written by Syed Farasat Shah, Mashriq ko Zara Dekh is an account of multiple visits of the author to China and an in-depth observation of Chinese people and culture. The work maintains that it takes one to live in China to realize that the portrayal of China by all those who have never lived there is only based on speculation and fiction. The book however is not a mere travelogue, instead, it also covers the topics like Chinese history, society, politics and economy at length. It also tries to rectify many misconceptions regarding CPEC. The writer in the end also presents a comparative SWOT analysis of the 70 year history of Pakistan and China, attempting to highlight various aspects that can help a country like Pakistan attain a brighter future.
About the Author
Syed Farasat Shah is a geologist by profession and has served at the top positions in Pakistan Petroleum Limited. His first book Abdullah Azad Hai shares his experiences and observations of the US. The author has traveled to many countries before that, among which he rates China on top of the list.
